Reply Contact Hi People,I was trying to have 5 forms in the folder accessible to the the people via sharepoint. I did the steps above and it worked. When I published it, it created an xml form and I did SAVE AS and saved it to the name of the the first Form, say FORM_A. I did the same for each of the form. So when I finished the fifth form...there are 5 new forms will all different names that distinguishes each one. I thought things are going to be fine. But when I checked out each form, all the forms looked like the the last form that I saved. Why did it happen? Well more importantly, can somebody help me so to how I need to save them so that each form will retain it's content. Thanks a lot for all your help. Thanks for all the help. p.s. - just to explain a little further if my explanation before was not clearI have 5 infopath forms that I created. I saved them in sharepoint (internal website) so that others can use it. When I saved it in sharepoint, I realized that those who have no infopath, cannot open it. Through the suggestion above, I changed some things there to be shareable, then I republished each one and saved it as .xml. The problem I got is that when I looked at all the 5 new xml forms, they all look alike (they shouldn't be). Ex. I republish the first form and created the first xml form. I named it as formA. I then changed and replublish the second form and named it formB. When I look at formB, it looks the way it should be, but when I launch formA, it has acquired everything in formB, thus formA looks exactly like formB. 09-09-2009 09:15 PM In reply to princevis Joined on 08-17-2009 Delhi Posts 129 Re: Form cannot be opened by others Mark as Not AnswerMark as Answer... Reply Contact Thanks for those who are helping me out. I tried both, and still I have a problem. I think I may possibly be misunderstood and I may have said wrong terms. I will try my best to explain it again. Here goes. I have 5 templates(.xsn) that I created. The templates will be used by people ordering. When somebody needs something to be ordered, he chooses the right template and fills it up and press the SUBMIT button. The submit button should email it to the rightful person who will process the order. I saved the 5 templates on a document library in sharepoint so it would be accessible to everyone in the company. The problem is that not everyone has infopath in their computers, and they shoudn't need it. For those who have no infopath, they couldn't open the templates as expected. What I did then is that I changed the settings of the templates to be accessed through sharepoint. When I re-publish each one of them, I was planning of creating 5 forms corresponding to all the 5 templates and save them to the same document library. I will then hide the SAVE button so that no one can both change and save the form, instead they can just submit it (then it will still go to the email of the person who will process the order). By doing this, I am assuming the forms will act as templates. I resulted to this because if it is in the form of xml, everyone can open it. So, I changed templateA, re-publish it and produced formA, and I saved this formA. When I open formA, it looks like templateA. I closed both templateA and FormA. I then opened and changed templateB. I re-published it and produced formB, I then saved it with formB name. When I open formB, it looks like templateB as it should. Now this is the problem. When I open formA, it now changed and looks like formB/templateB. I don't know how it got affected, aside from the fact that they all are saved in the same document library. 1) Does this mean that a document library can only have one form saved in it? I saved all the templates in the same document library, and didn't have problems opening it, the problem is for those people who are accessing it that have no infopath installed in their computers.2) What options do I have to have 5 templates accessible to all, and can be opened by all, without having to have infopath installed to all employees. As suggested, i could load them as contents type if that would be the solution, but how do I do that. Thanks again and look forward to your help. I am a newbie so appreciates your help gurus. Are you designing browser enabled form (or) client only form ?
After you set the browser enabled compatibility, did you use the degin checker to verify compatibility ? If you get any error here, your form can't be opened in browser as per your current design.
To view the form in client application (Infopath 2007) you need some setting in sharepoint form library & the user machine should have the Infopath 2007 installed
- Saravanan
Obviously your form is not browser enabled. to browser enable the form,
you will need to publish the form template again.
go to tools -> form options -> compatibilty
and check the box "design the form template that can be opened in a broswer or infopath"
also after publishing the form you will need to go to the document library
settings -> document library settings -> advanced settings
set opening browser enabled forms to display as web page.
this should solve your problem, do write if it does not solve your problem
Thanks. I think it works.

jigzy,
you cant publish five different templates to the same document library. you can load them as content type, and then activate them to this document library.
you seem to be a little bit confused between the templates(*.xsn) and forms(*.xml)

to publish(place) an infopath template (xsn) to sharepoint doc library, all you need to do is just publish the template. the option to publish is under file menu. and follow the publish wizard. to create a new form(xml) of the published form(xsn), go to the document libary and click on new and there you will be able to create the new form.
hei jigzy,
sorry for replying so later, i am out of station. well u will need to publish the forms as content type and upload them.let me tell u the steps.
1) publish the form as content type to your local machine
2) go to central administration and upload the form template.
3) activate the form template to the site.
4) go to the settings -> advanced settings of your document library.
5) set content type = yes.
6) go to settings -> add content type. select the content type you just uploaded.
repeat steps for all the templates. then you will have option to create forms(xml) of any type.
Thanks. Quick question. Does it mean you can only have one form for each content type?
