    Repeating Section and adding userName

    Guys,

I have been working on a logging tool as seen below. I have just uncountered a problem that I didn't think of. On the problem Description section there is a small box to the right of the repeapting text box that will hold the username of the person who has logged the information.

My idea was when someone inserted a new repeating text box their username will show, this is to tell the other team members who logged this information. Now I can't get my head round how to save this indivually as it seems to overwrite all of the text boxes when the job has been updated. I haven't included the part on the solution description yet.

I have tried setting conditions using the position function but this doesn't seem to work. Has anyone encountered something similar?

    Hi:

I think you can do what you need by setting the default for your UserName field in the repeating section defaults.

    1. Right click the repeating section with the description field and select the properties to open the properties dialog
    2. On the Data tab, in the Default settings section, the section that can be inserted should be highlighted. You can click the Modify button to open the Sections Properties dialog
    3. Click Edit Default Values to open the Defaults dialog
    4. You can choose to apply defaults only when the user inserts the section, and set the default for your field with UserName to the IP2007 userName() function
