    InfoPath 2007 with SharePoint Licensing?

    Hi,

I have a requirement to create InfoPath forms for users to submit into SharePoint form library. The basic scenario will be as follows:

    1) User click on new form from SharePoint form library

    2) Form opens in InfoPath client

    3) User fills up form and click on 'Submit' button to submit form to SharePoint form library

What are the licenses that I will need to purchase for this usage?

    i) Do I have to buy a license for each user that uses an InfoPath client to fill in the form? If so, what kind of license do I need?

ii) Is SharePoint eCAL required for InfoPath integration with SharePoint?

Has anyone done something similar? Thanks!

    Regards

You do need Office client licenses for users clicking New. You do not need the SharePoint licenses for Office.

    Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the reply. Can I ask if the Office client license you are referring to is the InfoPath 2007 license or do I have to purchase the Office license as a suite (which includes word, ppt, excel etc.)?

    Thanks.

     Anyone else with similar experiences?

You only need InfoPath for that, but don't all your users have Office anyway?  InfoPath is an Office product and only works on Windows, so I'm confused as to why you'd not already have Office on those machines anyway.  It's true that InfoPath 2007 is only part of the ProPlus, Enterprise, and Ultimate suites, so it's common for users to have the full Office suite but not InfoPath.  You can either upgrade to one of the suites above (usually for less), or puchase InfoPath 2007 individually for each user.

This even works with WSS 3.0, which is the free version of SharePoint 2007, but you would need MOSS Enterprise to have browser forms, which do NOT require your users to have InfoPath.
