    Open Form in browser from Search Results

    Hi Everyone,

    I have designed a browser based form, but when I try to open the form from my Search Center (Search Results), SharePoint will only allow me to open it in Info Path.

    Is there any way that I can change the results page so that the forms will open in the browser instead of Info Path?

    Thanks in advance.

    Did you change the compatibility settings of the form to make it browser-based? Does InfoPath report any errors when using Design Checker? Did you modify the form library to open forms in the browser? This seems like a good introductory article.

    Hi Ernestom,

    Yes to all of your questions.  The problem is, I have created a Search Centre, and changed the search Settings to "Use custom scopes. Display richer results using the following Search Center:" Then I have entered the URL of the Search centre into the text box.

    Then when I search for a particular form and I click on the search results, it will open in Info Path instead of the browser.

    Is there any way that I can have these search results open the forms in the browser rather than in Info Path?

     I hope this makes sense.

    Thanks in advance.

     Hi Everyone,

    I have figured out a solution to this problem.

    Go to the results.aspx page in your search center, and click edit page. Click the edit button on the 'Search Core Results' and select 'Modify Shared Web Part'.

    Click the XSL editor, and copy the code into Sharepoint Designer, modify the following lines of code to include ?openin=browser inside the <a> tag:

    Lines 104 & 105:

    <span class="srch-Icon">
    <a href="{$url}?openin=browser" id="{concat('CSR_IMG_',$id)}" title="{$url}">

    Lines 109 & 110:

    <span class="srch-Title">
    <a href="{$url}?openin=browser" id="{concat('CSR_',$id)}" title="{$url}">

    Lines 126, 127 & 128:

    <a href="{$url}?openin=browser" id="{concat('CSR_P',$id)}" title="{title}">
    <img src="{picturethumbnailurl}" alt="" />
    </a>

    This will then make any links that appear in the search results open forms in the browser instead of info Path.
