    Pulling info for Manager

I have a form that is using the GetUserProfileByName Data Connection and is working great for a simple way to have fields auto-populated.  However I was trying to figure out how to take the "Manager" field and have it reinserted as the query so I could then pull the Manager's PerferredName and WorkEmail.  I have found many blogs stating this is what I'm supposed to do however, I haven't figured out how to do it yet.  I have to keep this form compatiable with a Browser so i do have some limitations in what I can do, I publish this to sharepoint and have followed this blog so my implementation is identical to this:

In case anybody else runs across my problem here is what I did to make it work.

    1. Created another GetUserProfileByName Data Connection.  Made the name GetUserProfileByName-Manager
    2. Created a field and called it Manager-Query
    3. Inside of Manager-Query I have a rule:
      1. Set field value Account Name = .
        1. Account Name is from the new GetUserProfileByName-Manager
      2. Query using new data connection: GetUserProfileByName-Manager
      3. Once this is in place the next part of that rule sets my fields of ManagerName and ManagerEmail equal to PerferredName and WorkEmail the same way you set the value for the original EmployeeName
    4. So i have two text boxes ManagerEmail and MangerName which have no value, the rule above gives it value.

Problem solved, hopefully this will help someone on Google.

You didn't find my blog in your searches?  Here it is just in case:

InfoPath - Get user information without writing code (extended)

Also, as a hint, another method that may be more straightforward is to use GetCommonManager, because that accepts the same value as GetUserProfileByName, but automatically returns a subset of Manager info without having to re-query the GetUserProfileByName web serivce.  You can set it to automatically retrieve data upon form load and then auto-populate your Manager fields just like your current user fields.
