Infopath - populate fields with data from same row

Using/designing an Infopath template and all I want to do (at the moment) is to to populate one field using another fields information (sharepointlist).
For example: (same data source) Use dropdown to select name from dropdown and populate email field.  My problem is with the formula in "Rules"\"Set a field's value."InfoPath - Populate field using same row data

Hi -- could you provide a little more info? Maybe attach a copy of your template (look under the Options tab when you reply to find a place to attach a file)? What is the formula you are currently using?

    Sorry for being confusing...

All I want to do is be able to populate one field with another fields information.  Using the same source data and connection.  The formulas I mentioned was the 'Action.'  Example:

One database HD NAMES with four columns, first name, last name, Full Name, and email address.

Infopath form includes, teamMemberName (Full Name), and emailAddress.

    _____

Another question: how could I display data from another database using a filtered (??(If checkbox = True then display Title) list in a dropdown .

    Thanks

Set a rule on the InfoPath form field of FullName. The rule action would be to set another field's value. The 'target' field would be the emailAddress field in your InfoPath form. For the value, select the fx button. In the formula editor, select the insert field or group button. From the dialog that opens, select your secondary data source that has the full name and email address. Select the email address field. Select the Filter button. For your filter, set the full name field from the secondary data source as being equal to the full name field in your main data source.

As to your other question -- if I understand correctly, if a user selects a checkbox on your form you want one list of options in your dropdown list -- if they don't select it, you want different options. Is this correct? If so, it would be easiest to simply have two drop down controls on the form, each with the appropriate list of items (using a filter on your datasource as needed). Then, add conditional formatting to your drop downs -- display one if the checkbox is selected and a different one if it isn't. Hope that helps!

Thank you so much, it seems so simple but...

It works except that now "mailto:[email protected], [email protected]" comes up.

When you say 'comes up' -- do you mean that is the value being populated to your target field? Verify your formula is correct. Perhaps you could paste your formula in your reply?

Oh, also verify the data in your table is what you expect....

formula is Field: emailAddress, Value: @Email[(@Full = teamMemberName].  The data in the source table is correct.  Would it have anything to do with the fact it is an email address(hyperlink)?

The email field in your main data source is a hyperlink data type? Is that what you mean?

In a test, when I set the value of a field that is of the hyperlink data type, it worked as anticipated, no 'mailto:', no repetition of the value. Do you have some other rule acting on the email field?

Or are you saying you have a hyperlink control that uses the emailAddress field for its value or for its display?
