Mutually exclusive CheckBox Field in repeating table.

Hi, Can we set up a checkbox field (or) radio button in a repeating table as mutually exclusive. For ex., I have a repeating table which may have 3 rows. If i have checked the check box field in the first row then if i go to second row and check the same check box field, the first row check box should be automatically unchecked. Is this possible through rules or through code. Thanks, Kalyan.

    Hi Jimmy,

I am having a problem for this workaround, sorry for the late question. But i found this problem yesterday.

But according to your post, I can save it in the manifest.xsf and i am able to use it in the preview mode. When ever i save the manifest.xsf template to XSN and try to publish this form into the portal (Because it is a web based form), It was throwing me an error straight away.

Is there any problem for this workaround in browser enabled forms?

Can we make this possible in browser enabled forms?

    Thanks,

    Jimmy.

Would you mind telling us what the error is?

While trying to upload the form in the central admin it was throwing an error exactly like this,

"Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object".

    Thanks,

    Kalyan.

The word "form" is hyperlinked, isn't it?

     Hi Alec,

I have seen your form it is working but when i replicate the same rules and values in my form mine is not working i don't know why it's not working. Can you explain the rules i am missing any.

    I have a repeating table

    myFields

        -group1

           -group2(Repeating)

                -Check

                -Clear

    Rules for "Check"

if ("Check" is not equal to flase)

then set field's value of "Clear" =2 and set field's value of "Clear" =1.

Default value of "Check" field is   (Clear=max(Clear) and (Clear != 0))

Checked on update this value when the result of the formula is recalculated.

Default value of "Clear" is "0".

Data types of both the field's are Text(String).

Please help on this, This is very important for me.

    Thanks,

    Kalyan.

Here could be your problem. If you look at actual XPath of that expression you will see Clear field having different referencing depending on what we going to do. First and third entries are relative references second is absolute one.

    Thanks,

    Kalyan.

Ok. I'll try. But before just one question. Did you pressed "fx" button and then check "Edit XPath (advanced)" checkbox before copying problem expression? By looking at expession in the "(advanced)" view you can cleary see the difference in referencing.

In my form first and third entries of rStarter field looks like:  ../my:rStarter

the second entry of the same field looks totally different:            /my:myFields/my:CheckG/my:rStarter

The difference between relative and absolute referencing is that relative paths you could get by just picking up field for the absolute referencing you got to right click at node you are going to reference in absolute way and choose "copy XPath". Then paste that path in "fx" popup window at the right location.
