get date as a date from sharepoint data

    Hi,

I don't know how I've not come across this before but it seems I have not.

I have a SharePoint list, which has a date column.  I need to show the list contents in a repeating table.

If I add the list as a SharePoint List data connection, then add the new data source as a repeating table, I cannot format my date field as a date...the format option is greyed out.

If I try it as an XML document, using owssvr.dll, I get the same problem, InfoPath thinks it is a string, and won't let me format it as a date.

So, how can I get my date column info InfoPath, so I can format it correctly?

    Thanks,

    Craig

I could never get the date, but managed to format it using a form-level rule.

Don't know how I missed your question, sorry.  Can you explain how a form-level rule made your repeating SP date node display as a date?

I would have originally answered for you to try and change the control to a date box instead of trying to format the data type.

    Hi Clayton,

I wish I could explain how it worked, it seems it just does.  I used substrings to fetch and re-arrange my date parts within a 'set a node value' action on a rule.  The same rule applied to the element at the data connection did not work.

I have just tried it with a date box, with the same result.  The element rule does not run, but it does as a form rule on open.
