Disabling the Remove Digital Signature Option in Browser Enabled Form...

     Hi All,

This is Raj, Infopath experts please help me...

Recently I have started working on Digital signatures in infopath browser enabled forms. I am facing two problems, I am addressing those below:

Problem1: I could able to sign a particular section in the form, but there is a link named "Show Details" and "Remove". On clicking "Show Details" link there is a Popup box opened and shows the signature details this is good but when I click the "Remove" link it removes the signature, which is a big problem. Users should not able to remove there signatures. So, I want a solution where I can disable or hide this "Remove" link in the signature block after signing the section.

Problem2: I once signed one of the section in the form, saved and closed. Now when I reopen the form, I see that there is a Alert Message Displayed saying that :

"Parts of this form are digitally signed and cannot be modified. To modify those parts of the form, remove the associated signatures. Click on the signature to view its details."

My users don't want this alert message to be displayed when there open the form which is already been signed.

Is it possible to solve the above to mentioned problems? If so please help me out of this problem. Thank you in advance.

    With Regards

    Raj...

The digital signature support in the browser is a bit limited in MOSS 2007 - in terms of what you can control. One idea would be to use Electronic Signatures instead and just create custom conditional sections in your form that are read-only depending on state of the form. We have people using our Electronic Signature control to do this with browser-based forms. Check it out: http://www.qdabra.com/en/products/ElectronicSignature.aspx.

     Hi Patrick,

Thank you for the reply Patrick. Yes I have seen the blogs and its very impressive but the problem is I have already been long way in implementing digital signature in my project and need a possible work around to solve my problem. So could you please suggest me any work around so that I can disable that Remove option from the signature part.

    Thanking You,

Sorry, but so far as I know, there is no way to do this. Well, you could add an event handler to the signture node and fail the removal but you couldn't check to see if it's the same user as the person who signed.

Then what's the point with digital signature, if any one can remove it? Is there no custom code availible? I'm willing to pay a couple $100 for a working custom code...

You can add an OnAfterChange event handler that prevents removing. I'm guessing $100 would be enough. Send email to Sales (at) Qdabra (dot) com if you want to purchase some support.

    Hi Patrick,

Is it possible to add an OnAfterChange event handler in Browser based infopath 2010 forms which has digital Signature? I don't see any OnAfterChange event in the default events in code behind. Is it only available to Infopath Filler based forms? Or may be Infopath 2003 based forms? Can you please shed some light on it. Thanks
