XML as DataSource, List Limitations, Get "all" Data?

    Hello Everbody,

i am encountered this week a problem with InfoPath and Dataconnections. If i connect in InfoPath a SharePoint List as DataConnection i can use the Columns ect. without any Problems. But, those Rows are limited! If i, for example, have 1000 Entries in the SP List, there will be only the first 100 Displayed within InfoPath. But i need all because i filter on them.

After a little bit search i found out that this has something to do with the Standard View of the List, and yes, i had something to do with it. If i set the max. visible Items of the List to ~1000 (in the View properties), i can see all entries in the InfoPath Form. But as you can imagine yourself, because i edited the Standard View - nobody wants really get 1000 entries at once throwed at his head. Also the Performance is under all acceptable.

So i asked in the MSDN Boards and got one answer, that there is a possible way to connect to the Form a XML Retrieving Connection with this String:

    http://servername/Docs/_vti_bin/owssvr.dll?Cmd=Display&List={LISTID}&View={VIEWID}&XMLDATA=TRUE&FilterField1=INTERNALFIELDNAME&FilterValue1=FIELDVALUE

Cool, worked. The Problem, i need this String "dynamic" because the "FIELDVALUE" at the End of the Querystring will be "selected" by the User within the Formular.... sooo

to make it short, i need a dynamic connection to a SPList where i get ALL Entries out of it and let the Server, if possible, let doing the filtering - and there is the problem because i cant create a rule of the GUI for this task.

I have already CodeBehind so there is no problem to extend it, but i need a hint how to edit the Querystring everytime the User is editing the filter criteria.

Thanks a lot for any answer or link :)

There is another thread here talking about this, and Patrick Halstead answered with two possible solutions - one where you write the code yourself and another where you can just use their WSSP product, which doesn't cost much.

Really frustrating SharePoint dont support ServerSide Filtering out of the box, but hey ;) thats the reason why other IT Companies exist... I will order our Buying Department to contact QDabra and ask how much a licence would cost. In the meantime, just to be sure, with "code it yourself" you mean, code my own WebService ? Or is there a possible other soltuion which i dont mentioned until yet?

Uhh, i asked qdabra, and no question, their product is the money worth, but we just need 'only' the serverside Filtering, not the whole superb package which they offer. So, do you have a extended tipp how to begin to "code it myself" ? You mean with "Code it myself" - Code in InfoPath or a own developed WebService?
