    Repeating Section

I have created a repeating section, I would like to have a control on this section.

Using a check box is this section completed, once checked it will open another section, if not the repeating section will show an error, I feel stupid, I have found alot with this forum but no specifically for this.
This section will provide the body of email discussions.

    Date Received: Received From:
    Select... Select...

Copy and Paste the body of email into this section:

    Update Excel Project
    W:\Team Project List\Projects.xls Updated (checkbox)

    Insert section

If the Updated button is not checked then the insert section does not appear. I can send the template to someone to look at if they would like.

    Thanks

Are you talking about conditional visibility, or conditional availability? What I mean is, do you want that extra section to always always be present in the DOM, and you just hide it when it shouldn't be shown? Or do you want it to be physically missing from the DOM when it shouldn't show?

If conditional visibility, then just add conditional formatting to the section based on the value of the check box. That's easy. The other will require code to insert or delete the section as appropriate.

As for the error, you can add custom data validation to whatever field you need to (the check box maybe?) to show an error when needed.

So I can just use conditional formation on the section, if the checkbox is blank do not repeat, if checked open a new section, hope I said that correctly.

    Thanks

    Hi mbaumhofer,

Yes that is what Greg is saying.

From a UI/UX perspective I would look at making the section hide or show based upon values entered in the section rather having a user be required to use a check box to show the next section. You would apply the conditional formatting in the new section that shows up only after certain fields in the previous section are filled in. This way the hide/show functionaly is driven by the data entry rather than a check box. If it's an optional section then the check box make sense I think

    Ted,

Could you provide me with an example please?  I could send you what I have created thus far and maybe explain with some screenshots what it is I am trying to accomplish.

    Thanks

    Michael

    Hi Michael,

Screenshots would be good, include one of the data structure too.

    Ted,

I am having an issue inserting my images and explanations to you.  If there another method I could use to send you the information?

You can email me at my work place.

    Thanks
