sorry, I'm very new to infopath, and i've been scouring the internet and these forums for 2 days. I finally just decided I should ask because my head is spinning...
I've created a form (and a pretty one if I do say so myself!) and figured out how to get it to email to a person... but now there are a few other things I'd really like to do if possible.
I should start off by saying I'm using infopath 2003 with sp1.
First, If possible, I'd like to be able to have someone fill out a form and click submit- have it email to someone and have the email they get have 2 more buttons- approve or deny. If its approved, it would then forward the form (unchanged) to a processor... if its denied, it would have a place for comments (for why it was rejected) go back to the requester for editting. the requesters email address is a section of the form if that helps... I'm hoping this is possible without the use of sharepoint (our sharepoint site isnt live yet)
Ok, thing #2... I'd like the approved email (when it forwards to a processor) to also be able to dump into an access database that we will use for reporting and such. I've read that you can make a form BASED on an access database... but can you make a database based on a form? I've already made the form and don't have the database... I'm sorta new to access, although i have the basics down.
Thing #3 (sorry...) When my submit button emails the form (currently to me because im testing) it changes my radial buttons to pencils and sunglasses and other pictures... someone said its because Outlook rendered the radio buttons as ASCII of some sort. That translated them into the glasses and the pencil, etc. -- but i have no idea how to fix it??
and lastly -- if I've read about making the submit button re-route based on rules... so i was thinking about having a button that they can check that says New vs Update existing. If its new, it would go through the above approval process... if its an update (the updates wont need to be approved) it would skip the approval process and email / update access. How do I make sure that it is not creating a duplicate record in access- rather updating an existing record?
so sorry for all the silly newbie questions... I'm very quickly "getting my feet wet" with this stuff...
thanks so much for your help!!!!
