InfoPath Dev

Hi everybody ! Sorry for my bad english, I'm a new French InfoPath user !

I tested this great tutorial yesterday : http://blogs.msdn.com/infopath/archive/2007/03/26/submitting-to-a-sharepoint-list.aspx and it works fine, I can submit datas to my SharePoint list and receive sent datas into a table.

The only problem is that I can only display custom values in the submit form by modifying the XML file :

<Batch OnError="Continue">
<Method ID="1" Cmd="New">
<Field Name ="Title">Test1</Field>
<Field Name ="Surname">Test1</Field>
<Field Name ="FirstName">Test2</Field>
<Field Name ="Mail">[email protected]</Field>
</Method>
</Batch>

Instead of writing "Test1" or "Test2" in the XML, I would like to display the value of an other field which is in my main view (these fields contains the name and the mail of the user). I don't want the user to rewrite these informations. I tried to use rules to modify the value of the "Field" field but without success.

Hi, and welcome!

When you say that you tried to use rules to modify the value of the different Field elements, can you tell me more about what you tried? I think in the example you quote, they actually put controls on the form that are bound to the secondary data source with the Field elements for setting those values. Do you have form controls bound to your main data source that you also want to submit?

You might want to look at this blog post on filtering the target field of a rule, as well...

Now, I'm looking for an other thing : How can I filter datas of a secondary data source ? I receive datas from a SharePoint list, but I don't want to load all the content on my computer (too long) but only datas with a particular field). I can do that with XPATH but only when I'm sending datas.

I tried to hide rows with the conditional formatting dialog box, it works but InfoPath still receive all the Sharepoint List.

Any ideas ? Thanks

Filter it on the server with a data connection pointing to a view that is pre-filtered.  You can do this by making your default view filtered or by making other non-default views filtered and using the XML path to that view per this method: http://blogs.msdn.com/infopath/archive/2007/01/15/populating-form-data-from-sharepoint-list-views.aspx
