Creating the Infopath Form Dynamically Using SharePoint List...

     Hi All,

My name is Raj, I am new to this Group, i am as well new to sharepoint and also new to infopath. Now a days I am trying an application for which the requirement is as follows:

I have created a sharepoint site in which I have created a custom list called "Contacts" which contains two columns named "Name" and "Roles". I have filled that list with three rows ie, with name and roles in columns respectively. Now I have Infopath form in which I have a repeating Table with Two Columns in it named "Name" and "Roles".

Now my Question is I want to bind the repeating Table in such a way that i want the entire list to be filled in it when i click new ( that is; after i published this form in the form library in the sharepoint).

Do I have to write any code for that in the Infopath form? Or Is it possible directly by binding the DataSource to the Control?

Please post reply to this thread... Thanking you all in Advance.

    With Regards,

    Raj...

Instead of making your own table in the form, just drag the repeating group from your List data connection to the canvas.  When prompted, tell it to create a Repeating Table with controls.  It will auto-create a repeating table for you with both columns showing.  Then, when you preview it (or click New), it will autopopulate that table with all the data in the SharePoint list.  Does this meet your needs?

     Hi Warrtalon,

Thank you warrtalon for replying my post. I am very happy to see the result, its an wonderful feature. But I have some static fields also in the row and one of them is the check box and other field is Digital Signature in optional section control. Now is there a way that the columns will be replicated with all the Names and Roles will be displayed along with a column of optional section with a Blank Digital Signature and also another column with a blank check boxes... That means my table contains four things that is, "Name", "Roles","Signature","Check"...

Thank You in Advance warrtalon. Please reply my post...

    Thanking You,

    With Regards,

    Raj...

I am not sure how to combine main data source fields in a repeating table generated from a secondary data source, but I think the Qdabra folks do, so let's see what they say.  This is a common thing that people want to do (myself included), but I've never figured out how.  If I do figure it out, or if someone leads us in the right direction, then I'll write a blog entry on it.

    Hi Warrtalon,

Thank you so much Warrtalon for the support. I will also try to post this thread in different post and try for the solution and once I get the solution then I would like to share it with you all. If you figured it out then please share with me. Once again thank you...

    Thanking You,

Do you need the Name/Role data in your main data source? If not, once you add the repeating table to your view from the secondary data source, you can right-click the right-most column of your table and choose Insert | Columns To The Right to add additional columns to your table. Then you can add your other items into those columns.

HOWEVER--if your other items are not part of the same data source, then you will have the same identical controls in each row of yoru table. I.e. The click on check box and they all are selected. Sign on column, and they all are signed because all are the same control across each row of the table.

If you need to copy the secondary data source table to the main data source, you can use qRules (see downloads section of InfoPathDev.com) or you can write code to do it.

Re: Creating the Infopath Form Dynamically Using SharePoint List...

     Hi Greg Collins,

Thank you so much Greg for the reply. Actually let me give you some information regarding my requirement.

    Requirement:

In SharePoint I have a list which has "Name" and "Role" as its Fields and I have filled in with some rows with Name and Role. So I am creating a data connection to get those list items (rows) into Infopath's repeating Table.

Now in Infopath I have to maintain four things, Name, Role, Digital Signature and Four Checkboxes

Digital Signature: I want many people to sign this document.

CheckBoxes: I have four checkboxes which is the Resposibilties A,B,C,D any thing can be checked and unchecked in each of the row's which indicates that a particular person with name and role can have any of these resposibilities.

Name and Role anyway will be filled from the data connections and I could able to successfully create all the rows that which are present in the Sharepoint list. But Yes as U said :

HOWEVER--if your other items are not part of the same data source, then you will have the same identical controls in each row of yoru table. I.e. The click on check box and they all are selected. Sign on column, and they all are signed because all are the same control across each row of the table.

Exactly this is what happening and My requirement is, it should not happen. For each row I should able to have new digital signature and four checkboxes.

Now please help me Greg. Give me some clue regrading how could I write code to reach the solution. Thank you in advance.

    Thanking You,

    With Regards,

    Raj...
