after closing form - sharepoint 'edit in browser' - the form loads again?

I have successfully 'adapted' a sample purchase order template to create a form that users submit to MOSS.

I then use 'edit in browser' option to make additions to the form, save and close the form - overwriting the original. This all works well up to this point.

My problem is, after I've closed the form, the same form re-loads. I can close the second form OK and nothing appears to be compromised, but it's annoying.

I'm using rules and conditional formatting and have tried to check all of this but can't determine what is wrong.

Does anyone have any ideas where I can look for cause of this please?

Created form in Infopath 2007, browser enabled.

You're saying that when you close the first browser form, it automatically re-opens the same form again?  Do this for me:

    • Go to Settings > Form Library Settings > Advanced Settings > Click on "Display as Web Page"
    • Go back to the form library and click the new button (should open in browser)
    • Look at the full URL and pay attention to what it says after &Source=.  Is it a URL to the library or back to the form?
    • Fill out and save the form.  Does it take you to the library or open the form again?  It should go to whatever URL was after &Source=.
    • Click this new form (don't click edit in browser, just click on the filename or type icon).  What does the &Source= part say now?  Save and close.
    • Does it open the same form again or no?

If none of that helps, then attach your XSN to this thread so that I can review it.

Re: after closing form - sharepoint 'edit in browser' - the form loads again?

    Thanks that worked.

The form doesn’t open again if I edit by clicking on file name/icon...

The '&source=' paths are different for both methods but I don’t know why.

I assumed I should be using the edit in browser method but looks like this will work.

I was concerned that users with an earlier vesion of Infopath may not have been able to edit the form as I've had some problems with that before.

Thanks again for your help .

People who don't have InfoPath 2007 _have_ to use the browser version, so you should just have the library set to always open forms in the browser.  Not much reason to use "edit in browser."  Just keep it configured to only work in the browser.
