Data field input when multiple views are used

Hi guys, I am almost done with the project I am working on but I still need to resolve my current issue :) Here it is:

    1. I have built a form and I have created 2 new views (each view acts as a deliverable costing). I just copied all the fields belonging to the 1st view to the others (ctrl+a / ctrl+v).

    2. I want to allow people to input different data per view which is not working at the moment. When I enter 10 in a field belonging to View 1 it automatically use the same value in View 2. I guess this is because my fields in View 2 & 3 are just a copy from View 1.

Question: what do I need to do to make sure that each view is independent from each other (no liaison at all) so I can get different filed input (and therefore calculations) per view? Do I need to work with secondary data source or do I need to create specific group of fields per view ?

Many thanks for your help. Lib

For the views to be independent, you have to have double the data fields.  The controls you see on each view are nothing more than display mechanisms bound to a back-end data element.  That element can have 5 controls bound to it, but they will all show the same data, because there is only one data element.  Views are nothing more than views...different ways to see data.

The way you're trying to use the form, though, would indicate the need for 2 separate forms.  I don't think it makes a lot of sense to have a form with multiple views showing the same types of data fields with everything duplicated.  When promoting those fields to the forms library, you're going to have a big mess I would think.

Thanks Clayton. Makes sense to me though I would have loved to handle everything within the same form ;)
