Redirecting users to a different url rather than default to a form library

    Hello,

I created an InfoPath form to be submitted as a browser enabled form.  I would like them to be redirected to a different page rather than the form library.  How does one find the source url to edit/redirect the page?

     Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

You can see the Source URL in the full Forms Services URL when in browser mode.  If you change that source attribute to the location where you want users to go after closing or submitting, then it will work.  The only way I know how to do it is by sending my users to the form with a predefined URL that has a modified Source attribute.  If they just click on a form or click "New" in the library, then it defaults this attribute to the view of the library where they initially clicked.

I am not aware of any way to dynamically define or change this attribute within the form itself.  I do it by sending automated emails via workflow that dynamically generate the Forms Services URL based off the Encoded Absolute URL along with statis elements for the rest of the URL (including Source).

I did evoke the workflow through SharePoint Designer using exactly what you wrote.  But what I was trying to do was to redirect users to a different url rather than default to the form library.  Is it even possible?

Are you referring to sending them somewhere other than the Forms Library after they submit or close the browser form, or are you talking about something else?  At what point in time do you want to send users somewhere other than the forms library?

As I mentioned above, if you dynamically generate your URL that sends users straight to the browser version of the form, then all you need to do is statically (or dynamically if you can define it) set the Souce attribute of the Forms Services URL.  That is the part of the huge URL that tells the browser where to send users after closing the form.

Yes, that is exactly what I am trying to do.  I just can't find the Source attribute on the actual form or is it somewhere else...it's driving me crazy at this point.  I only get the option to verify compatibility....

No, it's just in the URL.  Go open a form in the browser.  Look at the huge URL.  Copy it down somewhere and notice that it has a Souce attribute in the URL that looks like this:

    &Souce=http://server/site/library/view.aspx

This is where you can define the URL for where you want people to go after closing the form.  If you are sending people the Forms Services URL in your workflow email, then just change it so that the Source attribute goes to the desired URL.

I just want the form to close and send them directly to the home page of the site.  They'll get an email notification regardless.  I just didn't want them to get confused what to do when they get to the form library....

Well, that's simple using what I said above but only if their initial entry into the form is through a URL in an email that you generate with SPD.  I would need to know the full process to help, but it doesn't sound like you're associating what I'm saying with what you want to do.  I think I understand, but you haven't had an "ah-ha" moment, so maybe I don't...

I did a bit of research and it seems that I don't have access to the main InfoPath Form Services features.  There is a toolbar on the IPFS that I can change the url to.

     The process is this:

I have users submit a training form.

Form closes and directs them to the Form Library where I published the form.

I would rather have the users be directed to a different page - the home page of the site (with the form still being submitted to the library).

I know what I need to do, I just don't know how to get at the path.
