Matching usernames - two data connections

I have one data connection that looks up a table in a database and pulls FIRSTNAME and LASTNAME. I have another data connection that is a WEB SERVICE that accepts two strings: firstname and lastname, and outputs a username. I wish to have a form that will act as a "match-maker". Take the Firstname and Lastname from the Database, feed that to my web service, and show the username. I have a repeating table that shows the firstnames and lastnames from the Database connection. Beside this, I want a textbox that will show it's corresponding USERNAME the Web Service found. My problem lies in the fact that I can't seem to have different values for this "username" textbox when it is part of the repeating table. It will always show the most recent match, filling in the same values for the entire list of textboxes. How can I show different values inside my repeating table? Or, is there another way to do this?

How are you currently populating that field?  Are you using a default value setting, or a rule?

It is just a textbox, and I have tried a few methods so far. - a button that has rules to set the query parameter of the web service, then query it, and assign the value to the textbox. - having the textbox as a repeating section inside the repeating table of the DB connection. I thought I could show/hide values not applicable but this is cumbersome. When it comes down to it, all I need to is use one set of data from one data connection to use as a query for another data connection, and populate the result. This is easy for a single entry, but when you have a repeating table it makes life difficult.

Yes, the concept is easy, but the application within a repeating table is the tricky part.  Are you not using Active Directory as the basis for your user information?  I mean, are the first and last names in the DB not driven by what is in AD, and does your web service not go to AD or the profile database to find the username?  I'm asking this because I know you can set the default value of your username field to equal the AccountName attribute of the GetProfileByName web method in the User Profile Service exposed by MOSS.  I thought this method would give a different value for each row of the repeating table.

Re: Matching usernames - two data connections

I am using my own web service I created... It takes two strings as input (firstname and lastname) as input, looks up the ActiveD username based upon that, and returns the username. That part is working fine... The other connection (DB connection) is working as well - I have it listing the firstname/lastnames of people in the DB in a repeating table. Beside each entry, I want the username from my webservice displayed. But everything I have tried to display it has failed (either duplicate entries or not working at all). So how can I have data from two different data connections in a single repeating table, using the value from one data connection as a query value for the other? Edit: The DB information only stores firstname/lastname information. I need to match it to the ActiveD information (using my web service), and display the result. This is to help a vendor implement their Single Sign-On in their application (DB).

Anyone? This should be fairly simple - I could code it but I'd prefer to use Infopath so I can share the document later.
