    Drop Down Validation

    I have IP 2003.

have a drop down field that is required so the checkbox that says cannot be
    blank is checked.

The value for "Please select one" is blank so the edit works.

However, if the user selects a value and then goes back and reselects the
"Please Select One", it does not read the field as empty. and the firm gets
submitted without a value in a required field.

    How can I fix this?

    Thanks
    Thank you for your Help.

    Art,

I am assuming you are entering your entries manually. I would make sure the value for "Please Select One" is really blank, maybe delete it and create another. Does it have the red * when the form first opens showing a validation error?

Another fix, which you would probably want in case they skip the drop down is to put a conditional rule on your submit that checks the fields value and prompts the user/stops the submit process if it is blank.

    Hi oldradio99,

Its InfoPath UI bug, if you want you can put a rule, or a conditional format for showing combo box with different color. But even the form will submit with empty character.

To avoid submitting put a condition that if the combo box is blank then disable the submitting button. If you want to see the errors then go to Tools -> Go to Next error menu. If you mention this info near the submitting button user can understand easily.

    Hope this will help you.
