Filter a repeating table from a secondary source

    Hi infopath folk!

I need to solve the following problem. I have a Excel file with data. On the other side there are a lot
of existing InfoPath forms. Both can be connected by a special field which is available in the form
and in the excel data. My task is it to integrate the excel data in the forms, filtered by the special
field. E.g. the value of the special field in one form is 4711. Then I want to integrate all rows of the
excel data which contains 4711 in a special column. So far, so good. ;-)

My idea was to integrate the excel data with a repeating table in the forms. Therefore I import the
excel data into a SharePoint list. The problem is that there is no filter option in the repeating table
when using a secondary source. How can I handle this?

I use InfoPath 2003 and SharePoint MOSS 2007.

Thanks in advance for any help...

I am also looking for a similar functionality, any help... basically I would like to replicate the excel functionalities on the form (sorting, auto populating a drop down lists based on the various filter conditions) ...

I was able to accomplish this using conditional formatting on each of the columns of the repeating table. So my steps were:

    1. Create a repeating table based on a secondary data source
    2. Create a separate field in the form's data structure to be the "filter" field. This filter field will match one of the columns in the repeating table. Let's call the column from the repeating table the "match column". We we only want to show rows from the repeating table where the match column is equal to the filter field in the form.
    3. For each column in the repeating table, set a conditional formatting constraint. The conditional formatting rule is bascially, "if the match column in the table does not match the filter value, don't show the field". If you do this for every column in the repeating table, then InfoPath will hide the entire row if the match column in that row does not match the filter field.

You can just set that condition for the repeating table itself, and it will work for all rows.  You shouldn't have to set individually on the repeating table rows.  There is only one row in design mode anyway.
