you must select a repeating group or field

     Hello friends,

In Infopath 2007, I want to list users in a  DropDownList control using the http://ServerName/_vti_bin/UserGroup.asmx web service's "GetUserCollectionFromSite" method.

But when i add this web service as a Secondary Receiver data source to my form, i can't see repeating group fields of this service's fields. So, when i want to bind this datasource to my DropDownList, i get an error like: "you must select a repeating group or field".

And the most interesting point is; i created a data source for this web service 2-3 days ago, it worked correctly and but i deleted it. Then when i want to create a new datasource now, and i am here!

    Hi Sinisa and welcome,

Make sure that your ASMX is returning more than one value. When you create the data connection, it determines repeating-ness based on the number of values returned. So, if you specify a default value in your query data adapter that only returns one value, it won't bind it as a repeater. Create a new query adapter and specify a sample value that will generate two more more return values and you will be a happy camper...

    I'm new to this...

if I were connecting to listbox field so I can select from a list of all users? I wanted their full names? How can I do that?

    Thanks!!

Sorry - I should also tell you that I have a listbox field on my form where I attemped to connect to the ws to get the GetUserCollectionFromSite but it's alerting me [you must select a repeating group or field]

I have anither connection to a different datasource to get the full name of the current user as a default value.... works no problem

I'm also wanting a drop-down list to return a list of all users so that the person completing my inventory form can browse and select the person responsible for that school/item.   I've tried to get this two ways:

1.) I'm not prompted for a sample value when using the "GetUserCollectionFromSite" method in /_vti_bin/UserGroup.asmx?WSDL.  When I attempt to use this in a drop down I get the error that I should use a repeating value... SEE ATTACHMENT.

2.) If I use the "GetUserCollection" method I am prompted for sample data for tns:userLoginNamesXml.  When I use my user name I get the error that "Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1."  What should I use for my sample data?

Can you be more specific please. This answer does not make sense. The data connection is going to bring in multiple fields if you are dealing with a list. Want to query on these fields latter for specific drop-downs and there is no way I would want to set multiple default values. Not really understanding how one could implement your answer.
