How to launch a new infopath form in a code from another infopath form?

I have a cascading dropdown list in an Infopath form. The DDLs are loaded from the DB; there is no problem in that.  But i need to give the user, the ability to add new entires in the dropdowns if they don't see what they are looking for in the generated list entries.
To do that, I am thinking to add buttons next to the dropdowns and call an another form to fill which submits the data to the DB and refresh the data connection for the corresponding drop down list.   I know i can add a rule in the button and select "open new form to fill in", specify the form template location,... But I need the value of the selected entry in the previous(parent) dropdown to do the proper insert.  How can i pass that value & call a new form to fill from the button click event code.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Ram,

This is a good idea. Have you searched on "passing parameters or passing arguments"? Lots of stuff exists in this forum that explains how to do it. Greg has at least one blog post and so does Jim, although they are quite different. The InfoPath blog by Microsoft also has a post.

The other way to do it is by writing code inline that updates the DB but that will require SQL permissions if you aren't using a Web Service.

You can programmatically update lists in SharePoint without fancy permissions, but you're using a DB.

After updating, you'll have to add a refresh button to requery the DB.
