Is it possible to modify a site template through say, Sharepoint Designer? I wanted to make some modifications to my custom site template but from what I've read so far, doesn't seem like I can. If there is any solution for this, I'd be very thankful!

You can actually create entire web sites using just Sharepoint Designer without using SharePoint at all, so you can definitly modify a site template. Are you getting an error when you try? Please let me know how you are trying to modify your site template.

I actually uploaded a template I liked.  Created a site with it.  Then used SharePoint Designer to open that site to modify it to my likings, but most areas were not editalbe.  So, how do you edit a template?
