    Info Dependant Drop Down Boxes

    Hello All,

My company is trying to assess whether Infopath is the right tool for us to use for a particular project. Nobody is a particular expert with the program and before we get stuck into it, we need to know whether it will perform one particular function.

The form will be browser based, and we need to know whether it can be programmed so that the contents of "drop down box 2" changes dependant on the contents of "drop down box 1". Rather like an airlines website where you select a departure airport and the Destination locations drop down box is populated based on the routes that the airline fly out of the departure airport.

    Departure point 1 = Destination 1, Destination 2, Destination 4, Destination 6

    Departure point 2 = Destination 3, Destination 4, Destination 5, Destination 6

    etc

Can you let me know whether this is possible and a very brief description of how this would be done so I can trial it out.

     Many Thanks in Advance!

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I was following through this method and when it came to the part about Filtering I was greeted with the error that "Filtering is not supported in Browser-Enabled form templates".

Does this mean it cannot be done with a browser enabled form template at all, or that this particular method using filtering is not available.

    Any alternatives?

    Thanks

The InfoPath Team Blog has a post here that suggests using web services that accept parameters for this. You can follow the tutorial to create your own, or you can save yourself some time and give ours a try.
