Infopath Form Services Web form from Sharepoint - only one submit button and close when submitted

As a test I created a simple Infopath 2007 form and published it to Moss 2007. The library where I'm using it is set to display as a web page.

When the web form comes up it displays a bunch buttons like , save, save as and update.  Must I have all those buttons?  I just want to see save and close.

My form is set to close on submit, but does not close after I hit save.

This isn't related to Web Services, which is probably why you haven't seen a response.

Yes, you can choose which buttons display by using a checkbox toggle in the Form Options > Browser tab within the form itself when designing it.  You can turn off Save As and update...or whatever else.  I personally turn them all off except Print View, and then I put a custom submit button on the form along with a Close button, because these are much cleaner to me and can follow conditional formatting like any other control whereas the toolbar buttons can only be affected by the Form Options in design mode.

Submit is not the same as Save, so if you want it to close upon submit, then you need to use the submit button.

If you remove Save As, then you won't be able to easily edit the form once created.  If your forms are never edited after initial submission, then this is fine.  I prefer not to use Save at all, because then the user has to type in a filename.  I prefer to use a Submit data connection where the filename is dynamically created using a concatenation of some unique value (now() function) and another piece of metadata in the form (i.e. userName()).

    Thank you for your response!

I have no experience with Infopath, so just fumbling my way around it.

Case in point... I turned off most of the buttons as you suggested and then added a custom button, but noticed I was thrown into a code block. So I then delete that button and activated only the submit button.

When I attempted to Re-Publish the form I got:,

Infopath cannot build the Visual Basic or C# code

The Visual Basic  or C# project for this form template cannot be  found, to locate the project click browse.

    If I ignore, later on.

The selected form template cannot be overwritten with the active form template. To publish the active template, publish  it to a different location.

When I run the form Sharepoint and click submit I get:

You have made changes to the form that have not been processed. We will process the chagnes and show the form again. After that you have to click Submit again.

And now, somehow, the form never comes up in a web browser from Sharepoint,  but rather on the client. I checked all the settings and they are the same. Somehow I think I replaced the template, though I'm not clear on the difference between the template and the form itself.

At this point i'm not sure how to get myself back to where I was.

Thanks again for any help or information!

Ok, so I don't know what you did that tried to open a code block, but when you create the button, all you do is double-click it then click on "Rules."  Don't do anything to it that has to do with code.

I think what has happened as a result of that mishap is that the form now includes code, so you need to remove it by going to:

Tools > Form Options > Programming > Remove Code

This should get you back to normal.
