    Submit to email

    Hello all!

I've got my form to submit to a few data sources; one of which is an email back to the person filling out the form. Everything works great, however the email back to the user looks really bad. The spacing is terrible and will not fit into the screen.

Is there anyway around this? Any way to edit what the user will see? If not, I guess I can just not submit email via InfoPath and just send the data that the web service receives?

Yes, this is a pain when using the direct email submit function.  However, I have been able to get mine to format nicely and show up in the proper size and spacing.  Here are a few things I had to adjust:

    1) If you have sections, you need a full line break between them, otherwise they get out of alignment and sometimes overlap.

    2) To keep sections and/or tables from extending the full width of your screen in the email, you need to change the sizes from 100% to some pre-set pixel width.  With tables in sections, you have to do both settings, not just one.

Thank you very much, I will start adjusting the pixels. I tried it in a test form and it worked perfectly!

I have had this same problem in the past and usually setting an actual pixel width instead of 100% has helped tremendously. Right now, for some reason I'm having problems with 2 date fields. They are the only date picker fields in the form and both look horrible (lots of horizontal width) in an email. They do have a fixed with and I have tried a fixed height just in case that would help (but it did not). I have also tried copying my date picker fields so that they are no longer inside of a section or table or anything. They have the same problem. Ideas?

For what its worth,my workaround was to put two controls bound to the date (a date picker and a read only text box) in two sections and hide the date picker and show the text box immediately before sending the email.  Then after sending the email I would show the date picker and hide the text box before submitting to SharePoint.  I happen to be using SubmitToHost to submit it to a web part which actually stores the form for me.
