Updating library template without changing existing forms in Sharepoint Form Library

We have a Info Path Form that we digitaly sign and store on a Sharepoint Windows 2007 Form Library.  Everytime we make a change and publish the template, it updates the already existing forms and invalidates the signatures.  Is there a way to save the existing forms so they don't update the already saved forms when we update the template?  Also tried copying the form but since linked it also updated the saved form in the new location.  There is an option to break the link but too many steps.  What is the correct way of doing this?  Thanks.

Not sure if this is the answer you are looking for, but when you are in InfoPath (2007), click Tools, Form Options. Then click versioning. There is an drop down box next to "On version upgrade". The options are "Automatically upgrade existing forms", "Do nothing (existing forms might not work properly)", and "Use Custom Event".

You might try selecting the do nothing option, re-publish the template and see if the previous forms error.
