I have a field that needs to have 1 to 15 characters entered. is there a way to validate that the field has between 1 and 15 characters entered into it. It is not important what the characters are.

To validate that a field has more than 1 character, just use the built-in validation options to mark it invalid if it is blank.

Then click the And button and change the dropdown to or to add an expression to mark it invalid if it is greater than 15 characters.  That expression would be something like:

string-length(XPath to field) > 15
