Email submissions (current view not displaying)

I'm using Infopath 2007 with Outlook 2007.  My email submits are not working properly.  It's not displaying the active view of the form, nor any other information (no body text).  I have Outlook 2007 option "enable infopath forms" checked.  The form is using Domain Trust security.

Any idea on why this is?  I see the caption "if you restrict permission to this form it will not show up in the body" but I haven't restricted access to the form. (I've made a couple fields read-only after submit... but that's it.

Here's a link to my experts-exchange post.  It may be more helpful as it contains pictures of what is happening.

I'd appreciate any help on this subject.

Hi -- you aren't switching views imediately prior to your email action, are you? That will send blank emails....

Hilary you are a genius! :)  I was switching views prior to the email.  I took out the view switch and no more blank emails!

Thanks again, I really do appreciate the help.

Why would switching views before submit send a blank email? I have this same issue, but require the views be switched before submission. Is this a bug? Is there a work-around?

I have encountered this as well.

My work around is to use sections instead. One section is for filling out the form, another section is the "email content". When a user pushes a button, conditional formatting hides the first section and shows the "email content" section. Then sends the email. Then immediately hides the "email content" section and shows the original (first) section. Make sense?

Yah, I am doing that now... Must be a bug in InfoPath 2007 then?  I have another form that does the view switch just fine...  This form I'm working on though... just wierd.

    Hey Kolten,

I got around this issue (not sure if it's a bug.) by using rules when the form is opened.

What I do is set a variable value (I call it "View") and then use rules on form open to change the view.

Example.  Simple form where Employee submits information to a manager.  I setup a form with 2 views (employee view, manager view) & 2 form open rules.  The form open rules are based on the "view" variable (default set as 0).  The two rules are "IF view = 0 switch to employee view", "If view = 1, show manager view"

So instead of switching views inside of the submit button, I just set the value of view variable and let the form open rules take care of the rest.

I hope I explained myself clear enough....

Thnx so much Ernesto! I'm having the same problem and this is the perfect solution. I will remove my 'print view' and replace it with some nice section as a workaround. Thnx again.
