Hi,

I am using IP 2003 with WSS 3.0. The  have defined two user roles groups namely, AllUser and Managers. For "AllUsers" group the condition is initiator and default and the group contains "Domain/Users". For "Managers" I have used an existing distribution list (DL) of outlook, which is validated(using checknames function in Group Roles in IP). I have different views. If anyone form the manager DL opens the form the form should open another view. I have defined the rule If User's current role = "Manager", switch to "ManagerView". But when a manager open the form, it shows the default view rather than the "ManagerView".

I also tried the same process to an individual user eg(X) instead of a "Manager". It does not work too.

what may be the issue? Kindly suggest??

Hi,

Verify whether the manager who opened the form is a member of the group which you are using for Manager (an existing distribution list (DL) of outlook). If the manager who opened the form does not belong to the group you have mentioned then it opens with the allUsers role.

The manager does belong to the DL.

I also checked the same using a single user instead of a DL. still it does not work. Do i need to change any userroles settings??

If the user is a member of several groups and you are assigning user roles that are based on a group, InfoPath checks the member list of each group in the order that the group is listed in the Manage User Roles dialog box. For example, if the user is a member of both the receiving agent group and the administrator group, and the administrator group is listed before the receiving agent group, the user will be assigned the user role for the administrator group.

So, make sure your 'Managers' group is ABOVE the 'AllUsers' group in the Manage User Roles dialog box....

I do have the "Manager" user roles as the first item in the Manage User Role dialog box. But i am still able to view only "AllUsers" view and the icon at the status bar says all "AllUsers". I have made "AllUsers" as the default, but it comes 2nd in the dialog box list.

I also tried the same with individual users instead of groups. Still I have the same issue. What might be the issue???
