About to hand form over to User. How do I stop the user modifying form

    Hi all,

I want to effectively compile my InfoPath Form. And stop the user from accessing the design functionality.

I only want them to be able to run the form as is.

How do I achieve this security?

I will not be using sharepoint nor an SQL DB, I will be using an Access database for now.
I believe different conditions exist in these different environments.

    I need ASAP.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

Can you follow the below steps.

    1. Open form in design mode.
    2. Go to Toolsà Form options.
    3. Select “Enable Protection” check box in the General Tab

Anuma does that provide complete security, to prohibit someone from opening the Form in design mode.

I read in the help that there is a way of doing that????

Please respond again ASAP.  Well, I am in Sydney Australia. Now 11pm, I will be back on deck in just over 8 hours.

    Hi,

"Design this form" icon will not be displayed if you follow the above steps. So users will not able to access your xsn file. they will just open the xml file and fill it.

Where you are publishing your form to ?

Anuma,  I looked around the Tools / Folder Options in InfoPath2007 and could not find "Enable Protection" check box!!!!

Where is it precisely please. Or is it not visible on IP2007?

It's in the Advanced section of the form options.  It will not completely prevent people from opening the template and modifying it, but it should be enough.

Re: About to hand form over to User. How do I stop the user modifying form

    Thanks Jimmy,

Yes I found Enable Protection in the Advanced tab.

I enabled the form. closed it. then reopened in Design mode.
A warning came up about damage to the form.
I modified some fields. Saved withou a problem.

And ran the program ( I think.  came up with use current or replace).

But, that is the issue, I do not want the user any access at all. Like in MS Excel you can have password protected, or cells protected, and so on.

If I could compile the form would be great.  Or, totally prevent the user from opening in design mode.

I tried to get into IRM, but need to download info. I am not sure if that is the right path, or compete path?

    The MicroSoft ORK seems likely?

    Any more clues??
