How to programatically set a tooltip?

I have a set of radio buttons in a repeating table. I want the tooltip of any given radio button on any given row to depend on a corresponding value from a drop-down list on the same row. Has anyone done this before?

This would require programmatically changing the view's XSL which is not supported. It would be cool to do it but the only thing that comes close is to use the cursor context to show guidance text. As far as I know, you can't dynamically set tooltips, but we have often wanted to. If you find a trick, let us know! :)

any progress on this? I'm looking for a way to set each tooltip on a textbox in a table repeater.

You can't programmatically set the tooltips in the view XSLTs. You might be able to add some code to the XSLT that does this but we couldn't figure out a way to do it and it's probably a deep dive with no certainty of finding the treasure.

I recommend just having a calculated value somewhere in your form that displays guidance text depending on which textbox the user clicks on. That's easy to do. The guidance text can change. It won't be a tooltip however and it will require code to get the context or injecting the qRules common code library into your form and using a rule to call it (qRules contains the functions to do this).
