Updated InfoPath 2003 Form Template Published to SharePoint 2003 - Question

    Hi,

I made some edits to my formtemplate xsn file and re-published it to sharepoint.  My new functionality is working fine when I select "Fill Out This Form" and begin a new form entry.

But when I open an existing file in the form library, the new functionality is not present in the form.

Is there something I can do so that older or "already submitted" forms can benefit from my new functionality.

    Thanks
    Lou

    Hi Lou,

Probably a caching issue with InfoPath. Easiest fix would be: close all InfoPath windows on the client. Go to Windows Start and click InfoPath. It will launch with a "Getting Started" dialog. Don't close it. Instead, find the form that you were using by clicking on "All Forms" in the left pane and then the details button (3rd to right above central pane). Select the old form. Then click Remove This Form from the right pane. Close the dialog and close InfoPath. Now go back to SharePoint and try to fill out a new form. Should open the correct form.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the reply.  But no success.  Opening a new form works fine.  Its just opening a form that was already submitted to the site under a different version of my form xsn template.  When I open one of these existing forms, the new functionality does not exist.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I agree that it looks like  a caching issue.  I also cleared out temporary files in IE but same result.

    Thanks

    Lou

Oh sorry, I wasn't paying attention to what you were saying.

Save both the new and the old forms as XML. Open in notepad and look at the href. Verify it is pointing to the same location. If not, you may need to publish over the old one.

Re: Updated InfoPath 2003 Form Template Published to SharePoint 2003 - Question

    Patrick,

HREF is the same.  Some additional info.

My more recent forms created on older versions actually work when opened.  The new functionality is there.

The forms that are not working properly are ones that were created months ago and edited every month new new status updates.  So my older forms that go back multiple template versions are not opening with the new functionality.  But my more recent ones do open with the new functionality.

Hope this sheds some more light on what the problem is the fix.

    Thanks again,

    Lou
