    ERROR

I have been locked out of my InfoPath form and I keep getting this message:

The form definition (.xsf) file cannot be opened because of an error.
The file cannot be validated by the XML Schema.

'DBA Requirements List' is a duplicate key for the unique Identity Constraint '{http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/infopath/2003/solutionDefinition}adapter_name_unique'.

Anyone know how to correct this?  I don't want to redesign the whole form again!

    Hi,

Do you have any data connection to the data base? Once delete that and try again. Open the manifest in any editor and delete that.

Note: Make sure you have a back up file before doing this.

No, there aren't any data connections to the database.  I can't open the manifest either (never saved source files).  It opens in notepad as a bunch of strange characters!

You can still expand the form files. Take your .xsn file and rename so that the extension is .cab instead of .xsn. Then open the .cab and copy out the files. You will then have manifest.xsf that you can open and modify.

Thanks for the suggestion, Hilary.  It didn't work on this file - but I will keep it in mind for future forms!

I got this error message once I changed it to a .cab file:

The form contains XML that cannot be parsed:
An invalid character was found in text content.

    Line 1, Position 5
    MSCF

I am just going to have to redo the whole form.  :(

Once you changed it to CAB file and did what? Did you copy out the source files and open manifest.xsf in notepad? Did you make any changes to manifest.xsf? Hate for you to have to rebuild your form if your original can be salvaged!

It wouldn't allow me to copy out the source files at all - it wouldn't even open as a CAB file.

I think it will be easier to redesign the whole thing rather than find ways to salvage, as it was a pretty simple form.

    Thanks for your help!
