I have unwanted repeat sections added

I am getting repeat sections added to the data section on the form.
All I want is to have a single record referenced when I added a field (which may now come from any one of 7 tables)
to data section in the IP form.  At the moment when I drag a field over, it automatically assumes a repeat section.

What can I do to correct this?

    Thanks ahead for your help..

    Hi,

If you want to display one section and field then right click on that field in data source. You will get the number of controls to be added. Click on the control you want to add on the form.

Thanks Swathip.  But the problem is (was) growing. Now I seem to not be able to submit to database.  Please refer to the last post on the Newbie thread.

    By Patrick Halstead.

Subject:- "The system will not allow me to submit"

My issue is submit to a compute rAccess database. That is the problem now.  I have tried several combinations of Sections, repeat sections etc.  The current one is to use the default template given to you when you start a NEW form, and I add repeat sections for each of the 7 (less 1) tables.

Do you know any other, better, way. Would be most appreciated.

In your main db connection, when you walk through the wizard, you should have the option of selecting whether you want multiple records from a table. If that's selected, you'll get a repeating group for that table. So, in the Data Connections window, select your main data connection and click the Modify button. You can then select each table in the tree and select the Modify button. In the screen that allows you to pick sort order, toward the bottom, is a check box that says 'Allow multiple records from this table to be displayed in the form'. Deselect that to prevent repeating groups in you DB based form.

On to your submit issue. IP will tell you why it doesn't allow submit on your main data connection. Take the steps above to walk through the data connection wizard again for your main data source. On the last screen, the one where you can enter the name for the data connection, at the bottom of the window, is an checkbox labelled 'Enable Submt'. If this is greyed out, so you cannot select it, there will be a reason in the Summary section below it. If the reason is hard to understand, just copy it and post it here -- we can help you decipher it.

Re: I have unwanted repeat sections added

Hi Hilary, I have followed what you said above. I have gone to the main table and selected modify.
I have deselected multi records on the main table, but, I still cannot get the database word/line in in the submit 'screen' dialog window.
Onlty Email Web service etc is appearing.

I have a single key for each table in the Access database.
The same key reference in all tables except one.
The master table does not have a key tag against the field name that links to this other table.
I can only see ADD primary key functions. No secondary key addition functions available.

You have given me ideas, for further research myself.  But frustration in trying to remove the statement in the sumaary persists.
Perhaps, make the non master table, ( the one IP thinks has mutiple records)  subordinate to another table, might work?

If I have any solutions I shall advise.

    ELSE,

Can you offer any furter sugestions?

    Ian
