Allowing only the user and their supervisor view the form, and the form library owner have contribute rights

I have a text fields on the form for current user. Once the employee(current user) fill out their part, and pick his supervisor from a contact selector,  the employee section of the form should be signed and disabled. Then the supervisor should get a email with a link pointing him to the Form in the form library. The supervisor would verify his employee information and then just digitally sign the form.

I understand about the current user part and configuring the contact selector,  but I don't know how to get the contact selector to email the supervisor the link to the form once the employee signs their part of the form to get of the work flow started. I have every thing finished except this.

You can create a simple work flow using SharePoint Designer, or you can use Visual Studio to create a more elaborate work flow. In one of the steps for your work flow you can build an HTML string that includes the link back the SharePoint Site, or the Info Path Form.  You'll most likely need to create several views to accomplish this.

You don't have to do SharePoint workflow for this. You can use Forms Base workflow too. Just add user roles for the Everyone (default), Employee (initiator), Supervisor and Owner (in InfoPath Designer, go to Tools->Roles). Make Employee initiator and use a field in the form to determine Supervisor. Default role is Everyone. Add open rules (Tools->Form Options) so that when role is everyone, switch to read only view or a view showing an error saying they don't have permissions. Disable file->save so the users can't send to their desktop for viewing in notepad.

I was under the impression that roles in Infopath for Web enabled forms were not supported? Is that true? I guess I should have asked if the form was using the thick  client?

    cali_kid,

The form is browser enabled and using Form Services. I also was under the impression that browser enabled forms could not use roles. Please advise. Also, if this the case, could you give a little more detail on how to do it in SPD or point me to an example. Thanks.

I found this post, but I'm not sure if it is a viable solution.
