    Custom task panes/error/debug

I was following MSDN infopath 2003 training, Lab 14: custom task panes in infopath 2003. "http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms788213(office.11).aspx" and it worked w/o error.

When I tried to incorporated into my own form, I get this error message. "Infopath has encountered an error' The operation failed.

    Questions:
    1) what does this error means?
    2) is there a debugger you can turn on to capture the problem/issue?

Without the task pane, I don't get the error message.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi schung,

Man, this sounds weird. When do you get this bug - preview mode, open mode? Does your custom task pane contain any script, and have you checked this script for errors? Do you have any code that talk to the custom task pane?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to figure out your situation a little better.

I got this error, while I was previewing before publishing the form. I do not have any scripts in my custom task pane. I am using HTML file (like the lab 14 example).

But I do have couple of display 'conditional formtting.' if condition meets = hide the control.

    Matt,

I did a little experiement. I don't think it's conditional formatting (??). I created a new form without conditional formatting. I still got the error message. But this time, only when I clicked on the empty spaces? what do you think?
    Thanks in advance.
