Greetings,
Not too long ago we created a template part in Infopath 2007 using a webservice as its data source. The control consists of three drop down boxes, and three text boxes. The first drop down list (Project) is populated from the service on form load. When an item is selected from the Project drop-down a call is fired to the service to load the appropriate contents for the second (Phase). The selected item from the Phase drop-down calls the service again to load the third drop-down with a list (Tasks). Each of the selections also push their corresponding codes into three matching text boxes.
The control works very well on its own and responds fairly quickly. The problem we've noticed is that when it is on a form with other regular controls (like checkboxes etc), those controls seem to grow slower and slower the more the template part is manipulated. The only thing I can think that would be causing this is perhaps some errors in the data validation rules on those controls. If the webservice calls were getting made in the background each time the user changes another control, that might cause it.
Would anyone be able to suggest some ways to test / debug what's happening? There is no code-behind for this form...and I'm out of ideas. We've got a department waiting to use this form and need to get it out in a hurry!
