    Conditional Formatting

    Hi,

I am designing forms for evaluation and I am stuck with conditinal formating.

Is there a way to do conditional formating for multiple Controls at the same time or

to copy the conditinal formating to other controls, without changing anything else in those controls, at once.

Please help, I have to do conditinal formating for 500 Controls.

Another thing that can be done is to put these controls in a different section. The only option I get for Conditional Formatting is to hide the sections. If there could be a way to disable the sections instesd of hiding it that will be helpful as well.

    Hi,

Add a conditional formatting for one field, copy and paste that control 500 times. Then change the binding to appropriate field. In this case the conditional formatting is applied to that control also. But make sure that the fields are in the same level.

Another way is copy the expression of conditional formatting. Open the view.xsl and add the same conditional formatting for all fields by pasting the expression wherever it is required. In this case also the fields must be in the same level.

I have already done the binding. If I copy I will then have to bind all the controls again. That is what I am trying to avoid.

    Hi parker,

You can change the binding in view.xsl. It is easier than changing the binding in design mode. But be careful while changing the binding.

    Hi Swathip,

Can you please also tell me how to access view.xsl? I can t seem to be able to do that to make mass changes.

You'll need to save your form as source files. For IP 2007, this is available under the File menu... I believe the option in IP 2003 is worded slightly differently -- as 'Extract Form Files'. Then look in the folder you saved the source files to. Your view .xsl file may not be called view.xsl -- it may be view1.xsl, or some other name, if it is a view you added to the form.

    Hi Parker,

After saving the source files in to a folder you will find a view1.xsl as Hilary said. Open that file in any text editor (in Notepad). And search for the field name you have used to copy the fields and change the field name according to another field name which is there in the data source.

Thanks a lot to both of you. Instead of spending hours, it was done in mins.
