help please: how to access 'innerxml' property

     Hi,

I need to save a rich text to sql database. I am using InfoPath 2003 SP2 and vbscript to code some simple things directly on the infopath form. I've done some search, and I understand I need to get the "innerXML" of the rich text box and save this.

Does anyone know how to do this with vbscript/InfoPath 2003? I've seen many examples - and they care for Visual Basic/C# - and none of them seem to work.

    I really appreciate the help.

    Hi,
You can get the inner xml using the following code line.
    xmlnode.InnerXml
xmlnode is the rich text box node.

Verify below link to read about "InnerXml" property.

    Hi thanks for this reply.

I have used the xmlnode.InnerXml; but everytime I use it, an error message pops up saying that such a property or method is not recognized. So far, only (a) xmlnode.text and (b) xmlnode.xml worked for my rich text field. I am beginning to think that vbscript does not support the "innerXML" property. Is that even possible?

As you have found, InnerXml does not exist in the 2003 InfoPath object model (which includes VBScript and JScript).  If you want to obtain the node's inner xml, you can:

    • Use string processing to remove the start and end tags from xmlnode.xml

      or

    • Iterate through through the nodes in xmlnode.childNodes and concatenate their xml fields

Either approach should give you the equivalent of InnerXml.
