    Import Data From Other Froms

    Hello,

I have two versions of an Infopath form. The first version was a beta version of the final form. The beta version files have been saved with an XML extension on a shared network drive. I need to know if it is possible to upgrade the beta forms or import form level data from the beta form to the final form.

I have tried merging the forms and received errors. I tried setting the automatic version upgrade but this also gave me errors.

If this can be completed, could someone please help me or point me in the right direction.

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hey Bill,

This is a hard task. If all of the old forms have the exact same schema you should be able to either write code or an XSL that will upgrade the old files on open. Depending on how complex the schema changes are I would just add the code. This makes it a little easier to think about and more familar.

It all depends on how different the schemas are between the beta and release version. If the schemas are identical, you should not be having trouble opening the forms. If the schemas have changed dramatically, you will need to write you own custom import XSL to handle the differneces. There are tutorials on the Microsoft web site that describe how to do this.
