InfoPath Dev

 Hi

 I should start off by saying that my experience with infopath is a bit more than an hour.

 I have managed to create a submit form which passes data to a web serivce.

Now i need to make an expression field which shows the data entered (the data is just a person name)  in an expression field (which i suspect is like a label in windows forms, correct?) after the user clicks on submit

 Any help on how to achieve this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to forums,

Add a field (ex: field1) to the schema. Set a rule on submit button to set the field1 value as the value which you want to display in the expression box. In the expression box, take the xpath as the new field(i.e field1).

You can't let the user enter a name in an expression field

So can give more information what you try to do ? 

- Version of InfoPath you use
- The person name, is it entered by the user or is it the return value of the WebService ?

If it is there returnValue, open the expression box, and as value, select the WebService DataSource and select the return value.

 Ok sorry i wasn't clear enough

 The user will enter a name in a textbox

Click on submit

Data will be send to the database.

Than i need to show The name he typed in a label and i suspect i need to use the function box

Hi,

1. Add one new Field to the Schema.
2. Follow below steps to Add rule to the Button.
1. Double click on the button.
2. Click on Rules button.
3. Click on “Add” button.
4. Click on “Add Action” button.
5. Select “Set A Field Value” from Action Dropdown.
6. Select xpath for the field which you added in step1 in the “Field” text box.
7. Enter “userName()” in the value text box.
8. Click on ok.
3. Add one “Expression Box” to the field and enter xpath of the Step1 field to this control.
