Use of Update button in broswer toolbar

    Hi All,

Can any one tell me the actual use of Update button placed in web toolbar of InfoPath 2007 Form Services?

What is the difference between Submit and Update button? And what is the Update equivalent button or menu in InfoPath Client?

    Thanks in advance,

    Kalai.

    Hi

Button in web toolbar of IPFS:

Submit: The form data is submitted directly to the data source that you specified when designing the form template, such as a Web service or SharePoint list.

Update: is for updating the data that is submitted to the data source.

where is update equivalent button in Infopath client.can you give more details on this?

    Hi,

    Welcome to Infopath Forums.

In InfoPath 2007 Form Services, submit button will be used to create new form. And Update button will be used overwrite the existing form.

Thanks Maduri for the quick reply.

According to your answer for difference between update and submit button, for the existing form entry, will both submit and update buttons do the samething?

My another question is as follows.

The IPFS browser toolbar has two buttons namely, Submit and Update. But if we open the form in InfoPath client, it has only Submit button. That is what I asked whether there is anyother button equivalent to Update button in IPFS toolbar.

    Thanks,

    Kalai.

    Hi

There is no update equivalent button or menu in InfoPath Client. You need to add a button and write code on onclick event for updating the data.

Sorry, still I am not convinced with your answer. Please find my scenario below.

I have configured my form to submit to sharepoint document library. I opened an existing form entry and changed field values and clicked Save button. It saved the document. But if I click on Update button, it is not updated in the document.

Could you please explain in line with my scenario?
