When form submitted, display name displays value instead...

    Hi there,

I really hope someone can help me with this.

One of the data connections on my form is taken from a view within a database.  I'm using it for a drop down list and there is a JobCode and a JobName. The JobCode is the Value and the JobName is the Display that users see before submit is pressed, however, when I press the submit button to subsequently add to the database, the drop down automatically shows the Value (JobCode) instead.

Does anyone know why this might be and how I can get round it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello,

We will get the value instead of display name for dropdown following scenarios,

    1. If you selected dropdown value contains name is not equal to binding for dropdown value and display name.

    2. If selected value does not have the display name for that dropdown binding values.

When you are getting the JobCode instead of JobName for dropdown? After submitting the row to database are you getting the JobCode value or are you doing any other functionality after this?

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly Shiva

I'm using the same technique for another drop down list to pick names, only the main differenece is that the Names drop down is taking its value from an Integer field that and the Job drop down is taking its value from a Char field. The Char field that's held in the database happens to be a Primary key for the table.

Considering that there is no real difference to the way I've designed the Views within the databse and that they both have only two fields in the Views, do you think this is what's causing the problem with the job drop down list?

     Thanks

Within the View I converted the Char PK field into an INTand changed the FK field into an INTdatatype.  That seems to have worked.
