Add non-repeating (read-only) SP data source to form

Using: infoPath 2013 connecting to SP2013 list. Main group (myFields) is in a repeating section.

I'm attempting to add a secondary (read-only) data source from a SP list to serve as a department lookup. Every attempt to add the data source results in it being set as a repeating section and the repeating option in data source properties is grayed out so I cannot change it.

Here's what I want to accomplish. The department lookup chosen by the user will be used to fill one text field in the repeating section and will filter another lookup field also in the repeating section. The department lookup from the secondary source is not intended to be saved.

    TIA

    Hi Gman914,

To turn data from a secondary data source into read only, right click on the field, select Change Control and choose Calculated Value. As for the non-repeating part, I'm not quite sure yet with what you are trying to achieve. If it is to avoid duplicate data, you may check this thread for a sample form and check the condition imposed on the repeating table to hide the duplicates. Hope this helps.

Don, thanks for the reply. I came back to the form later in the day, removed the data source and re-added it. For what ever reason it was no longer treated as repeating and I was able to get my field added outside the repeating section with no problem.

I was able to set the source to read-only when I added it.
