    Changed XSN-Location

    Dear INFOPATHdev-Team,

I couldn't find any solution during my search, so I'm writing this post...

I have created and xsn-file, let's say under this location:
    D:\InfoPath-Forms

Furthermore, I have already created my first few templates (xml files) on base of thas created xsn-file.
The great thing of InfoPath is, that I'm able to work on that xsn-file and once I've saved it, all those changes will be adopted to the other templates (xml files).

    Now here is my problem...
I've created a new location (folder), where I want to move my xsn-file to, let's say:

    D:\New-InfoPath-Forms

Now, once I move the xsn-file from D:\InfoPath-Forms to D:\New-InfoPath-Forms, the already created templates (xml files) do not recognize any changes I make in the xsn-file.
Can you please explain to me, how I can move an xsn-file to a new location and still be able to adopt further changes to all existing templates (xml files)?

    Best regards
    Rix

    Hi Rix,

What you want is a URN based form. InfoPath supports both URN and URL based forms but default is the latter.

To make a form URN-based, requires either A) making it have a security setting of Restricted and publishing it as an Email form (which will force it to be URN based), or B) registering it using a script. We have an install script that you can use. Send email to Support at Qdabra dot com and we can send you the files with instructions.

    Hi Patrick,

awesome, it works as you have described it. Thanks you many many times!!!

However, as it seems, there is one major problem occuring:

Once I have followed the first 9 steps, I easily can rename the "href" of all existing XML forms, as described in the instructions.
    But...

    1) if I open the URN-based XSN and
    2) make a little change in it, for example the word "test" and
    3) save and close the XSN

I cannot open the XML forms anymore. The error message is:

    Formularvorlage: C:\Users\COMPUTERNAME\Desktop\URNforms\MyDocument.xsn
    Zugriff verweigert

    Translated, it means:
    Form template: C:\Users\COMPUTERNAME\Desktop\URNforms\MyDocument.xsn
    Access denied

Furthermore, I get the same message, if I try to open the XSN.
It only works again, if I use the uninstall.js procedure.

Can you help me any further, please?

    Best regards
    Rix

    Hi Rix,

Sorry for not seeing this sooner.

Anytime you make a change, you have to uninstall and re-install.

That's because it's an installed form.

I've asked a couple other people to chime in if they have other ideas. Who knows, maybe I'm missing a trick.

    More soon,

    Patrick
