Infopath 2010 Custom Form for List- Failed to Edit

    Hi there,

I've created a very simple list named Testing with a column "Title" only in SP 2010.

    1. I create a new list  in the Testing , work fine.

Then I open this Testing list in the InfoPath 2010 (Click Customize Form in the SharePoint Ribbon), and then modified the "edit form" then published back to the sever.

    2. Create another new list for Testing, work fine and saved.

But when I try to edit the list it failed to load with the following error:

    3. Open the list I created in step 2, it failed to open.

Unhandled exception when rendering form System.ArgumentException: Value does not fall within the expected range.
    at Microsoft.SharePoint.SPFieldMultiColumnValue.ParseMultiColumnValue(String fieldValue, DelimiterType delimiterType)

We found a similar error: http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/19856/68972.aspx#68972

But they're saying this could be a bug.

    Any input will be appreciated!

    info2012:

What do you mean under "I open this list in the InfoPath 2010"

    • in browser form, Infopath Form Services?
    • Infopath Filler? Preview? cloent form?
    • Infopath Designer?

    ?

Plz provide more specific steps to reproduce it

    info2012:
and then modified the edit form then published back to the sever

    This is again very confusing

AFAIK, it is impossble to modify in Infopath just an edit form.
It is one and the same Infopath form of type "Sharepoint List Form" that is used in Edit, View/Display and New/Create of a list item web pages

    info2012:
After that I can still save a new list

    Again unclear to me.

What do you mean under saving a list?

    A list or list item?

    From where?

    How?

You seem to have changed intitial question.

    Though, once again,

    1. you cannot modify just an "edit form" for Infopath form Sharepoint List Form type (it is what shown in Compatibility < Form Options < Info <on ribbon File).

It is the same form for Edit/Update and for View/Display or New/Create modes/webpages

    What is "Testing"?

    2. In order to edit another list in Infopath form, you should have published it not Saved.
The Save just saves locally the form template

2a. It is impossible to publish more than one Infopath form onto one (and the same)  Sharepoint list.

What is supposed to mean "Create another new list for Testing, work fine and saved"?
    Work where? How?
I cannot understand how unsaved list first works fine and then saved.

    You are most probably:

    • confusing a list with web pages rendering lists or list items and the web pages with Infopath form or Infopath From Web Part used in web pages/modes
    • published Infopath form of non-Sharepoint List Form" type onto the Sharepoint location used for Infopath forms of this type.
Cf. my answer to  referenced by you "
      Sharepoint List/Infopath Form Error" thread

    3. From the given by you error, I can guess for the second list you have not created a Infopath "Sharepoint List Form" for it though it is quite possible to publish the different type of Infopath form onto location used by Sharepoint for "Sharepoint List Form" Infopath form
