Neither submit nor custom code button action to submit using data connection works, folder not found.

Am new to InfoPath, using 2003 creating a form with data connection to SPv4. A normal save works fine (well, guess it would because it doesn't use the data connection) but when I try to submit the form instead (hoping to create variable filenames based on date field and maybe some other field(s) to make the file name unique), am gettig generally the same type of error whether I use a normal submit button or a button using custom code to submit using the data connection:

    Data connection info

    • Sharepoint Library Form: http://sp4/sites/OTC/IPC%20Test/Forms/AllItems.aspx (I've also tried a form library without spaces in the name, did not help)
    • Filename: function of concat(Meeting_Date, AnticipatedA, AnticipatedC) (I've also tried a hardcoded valid text name like "whatever", did not help. In this case, the date format is in yyyy-mm-dd and the other two fields are values of checkboxes so just Boolean)
    • Allow overwrite if file exists: checked (I've also tried without, did not help)

Error when using button with submit action allowed

The form cannot be submitted to the following location: http://sp4/sites/OTC/IPC Test/Forms/AllItems.aspx/2012-05-25falsefalse.xml
    The folder does not exist.

Error when using custom code button

    InfoPath cannot submit the form.
An error occurred while the form was being submitted.
The form cannot be submitted to the following location: http://sp4/sites/OTC/mytest/Forms/AllItems.aspx/2012-05-25falsefalse.xml
    The folder does not exist.

I'm sure it's something simple I'm missing but haven't found anyone having the same issue in my search through this forum (only spent an hour or so looking so forgive me if I missed previous references).

Thanks for any help in advance!

    Hi Tibby,

When creating a submit data connection to a form library, I think you would have to remove the trailing /Forms/AllItems,aspx in the data connection wizard. So the URL should be http://sp4/sites/OTC/IPC%20Test. Can you try that and see if that resolves the issue?

    Thanks,

Thanks for the suggestion but that did not work - using a new library name to make sure the space is not at play:

    Sharepoint form library: http://sp4/sites/OTC/IPCtest/

    InfoPath cannot submit the form.
An error occurred while the form was being submitted.
The form cannot be submitted to the following location: http://sp4/sites/OTC/IPCtest/Forms/AllItems.aspx/2012-06-01JohnMark.xml
    The folder does not exist.

But I'll mess around with it some more Monday.

How odd - it really seems like InfoPath doesn't have the library right - so you are putting the URL in as "http://sp4/sites/OTC/IPCtest/" when you create the submit data connection? I've never seen this before.

Yes, I'm sure I'm doing it right, it's just not working. HOWEVER, I just spoke to one of our more informed WSS admins and she said that when we moved sites from SPv3 to SPv4 early this year, one person's submitted forms broke but her forms that she only saves instead of submitting weren't impacted so just sounds like we've introduced some sort of interferrence to the normal data connections. I've put in a call to this person, hopefully he has a workaround (and I'll post it here if I can).

For some reason, the submission is working! I think when I corrected the URL, I must not have pulled up the corrected form and thought it was still not working.

     Thanks for the help!
