Repeating table to gather and show info from SP???

I want to appologize for using you guys as a learning tool again, but you are really good at it, if that is any consolation :)

Here is what i am trying to do, I beleive the best way to describe it is "completely opposite from what infopath is used for."

I would like to make a form this form would be used for tracking items throughout the month. to be more precise it is a quality assurance team. Each month quality assurnce is given 20 employees to monitor. Each employee needs 5 monitors to be performed on them.

I have 11 members on the quality team. each has their own view. There is also a view for the manager.

So what i am dealing with so far is 222 employees, 11 QA personel, 1 QA manager.

each rep has these attributes. they have a supervisor, a manager, 5 different monitors, and 3 other options.

The QA manager should be able to open up their own view and see all of the employees, QA manager should be able to choose a QA mamber from a dropdown list and it would then appear on the QA members personal view, the QA member would then be able to fill in the blanks of the required info as it appears on their personal view.

So this is what i have so far. (and a reason i say is opposite)

I have a sharepoint list set up so that i can enter the raw data (employee supervisor and manager)

I have a repeating table build in infopath.

a data connection pulls the sharepoint list into the repeating table. (employee, supervisor, and manager)

the QA manager would then open the infopath form and see a repeating table with 4 columns (employee, supervisor, manager, and a drop down list with QAmembers names)

the manager would then work through the list to evenly assign employees to QA members.

when the QA members open the infopath form they would then see an almost identicle repeating table with only the data that has been assigned to them.

If a QAmember cannot complete their work during the month then the QAmanager would be able to reassign the employee to another rep by simply changing the dropdown list to reflect the changes.

if a change is made then the new QAmember would see the employee with all of the information that has been done already and they carry on. the old QAmember will no longer see that employees information.

I have created a few different forms in the past so i beleive i can do the functions to figure out the different counts and percentages that i will need for a different view, but i am getting stuck at the begining.

    Here is my actual question.

How do i get the repeating table in my infopath form to show ALL of the items in my sharepoint list instead of just the first one???

from here i can create my filters to only show the information needed for each QAmember.

    Hi

Did you already take a look at the How To on GetListItems Web Method

I hope you can use this with some minor changes

Re: Repeating table to gather and show info from SP???

forgive me if i am reading the how to incorrectly.

From what i understand the how to points out the creation of the data connection by going into the default view of a sharepoint list, then gathering the information.

I beleive (correct me if i am wrong, which i probably am) that the data connection i have created would do the same thing. currently I have the data connection added to infopath to gather the fields i need from the sharepoint list (I have also created another data connection to gather similar information from an access Dbase, attempting to use either for the information i need.

I do not know how to code, so it is difficult for me to understand the 'how to', but is the 'how to' showing me how to take the created data connection and place it into a format in infopath that will automatically show all of the fields instead of just the first one?

If so then i won't be able to use it as i don't understand the code used in this program (although i am learning slowly), and i dont have access to visual studio to make some of the edits.

Is there a way to do this through infopath, instead of editing the code? I wish i were more savy :)

like i said, i have the data connection, and i have the repeating table using the data connection to populate the fields within the data connection. Now i have to get the repeating table to automatically populate with everyline from the sharepoint or access tables.

I am afraid that I wont be able to complete this without the code, but im hoping for the easy answer :)

Sorry for being difficult but thanks again for all of the help.

Re: Repeating table to gather and show info from SP???

    Follow these simple steps

    1) Double Click on the Repeating table to open its properties
    2) In the Data tab select Change binding
    3) In the Data Source Drop down select your datasource (Sharepointlist)
    4) Next select the repeating Group in the tree structure below and click on the Next
    5) Add the Fields you want in the Columns table in the Next window and Click on Finish
Preview the form you will see that every line with your selected fields in the Sharepont is added to the Repeating table

Try this simple Steps(If you haven't tried them yet)

I Hope this should solve your problem.

Re: Repeating table to gather and show info from SP???

THATS IT! :) (add master repeating table to this)

thanks a lot for the help.

    what i was doing wrong...

Apparently the repeating table has to be a master table to be able to change the bindings. I was not creating a master table so i was unable to change the bindings. therefore when i would bind each field to the datasource i would only get the first field within the datasource.

When i was doubleclicking on the table i had already set up i could not find the bindings button, so i was started adding new tables and finally added a master table and that did the trick.

now when I preview the form it auto populates all of the list entries which will allow me to add more drop downs to the table and filter depending on the view.

Thanks again for all the help!
