Drop down with dynamic data source

hi I want to attach a data source with a drop down through code. is that possible? Actually the problem is i have a drop down in a repeating table. so when i attach a data source to a drop down through UI it automatically gets attached to all the rows that will be added to that table on load of that form. so if through code i add nodes in that data source those changes will be reflected in all the drop downs. what i want is adding a drop down at runtime and all those drop downs having different values. please help asap...thnks

It sounds like what you want to do is entirely normal.  Just place the dropdown in your repeating section, binding it to the node of your choice, and then open up the dropdown's properties.

    1. Under List box entries select Look up values from an external data source.
    2. Select the data source you want to use to populate the dropdown.
    3. For Entries, select the repeating node in your secondary data source, and select Display and Value fields underneath (or on) this repeating field.
If I've understood your question correctly, that should do it!

hi jimmy, Thanks for replying. If i understood correctly you mean to say there will be only 1 data source right? but the problem with that is when i add rows to the repeating table programatically that data source gets attached to all the drop downs automatically. so when i change the options in the data source(through code) those changes will be reflected in the options of all the drop downs. what i want is drop downs in repeating table with different options. please correct me if i am wrong

This is exactly what I need to do too.  I only have one data source, but I need the rows to filter the data differently depending on different values in the first field of the current row of the repeating table.  Were you able to find a solution to this?

    Thanks

No i could not find anything. I had to manipulate the dropdown xml at run time to achieve it. its working as of now but i am still looking for a better solution.
